You've got Girls EDGE questions?

We've got answers...

I hope.

Here's what most people want to know about when we talk about Girls EDGE.

So, it's like CrossFit?
Yep. It's based on the proven CrossFit Kids program, a strength and conditioning program designed to build a lifelong love of fitness.

Who is this program for?
This program is for girls age 6-12 with all fitness levels and abilities.

What's a typical session like?
We usually start with a warm-up, like jogging, jump roping or running around to get our hearts beating, then stretching.

We then have one or two Workouts of the Day (or WOD as we call it in CrossFit), followed by games (because fitness is fun!). On Wednesdays we spend 10-15 minutes doing homework or studying and on Saturdays we end with a small group discussion about topics ranging from healthy eating options to leadership to ways to deal with bullying.

It's fun and no two sessions are ever the same!

If it's a program for girls age 6-12, isn't that quite a big age difference?
Yes and no! Depending on the group, we will typically start with the same warm up and break into groups or partners based on age for the WOD and discussions. CrossFit is infinitely scaleable so even if we all do the same exercise, there are modifications for each age.

It sounds like Girls on the Run?
We take that as a compliment! We admire a lot the great work Girls on the Run does. While their program culminates in a 5k we spend our 8-week session working on running, gymnastics, strength and tumbling.

Is it safe?
Yes! We are certified CrossFit Level 1 and CrossFit kids trainers. We work closely with the girls to ensure proper and safe technique and they are always supervised.

Update: Check out our recent post "So how do you know it works?" for more information about what we think about "results."
