That's amazing to see not only her creativity but self-motivation!
When the session ends and we've had our fun "bring a friend" workout, I'm always sad. To be honest, I'm never sure who will stay for another session and who will be back to try again.
Sure a lot of girls attend to train for the next sports season, but I do worry if we've done our job, if we've had the right discussions, if we've pushed them enough, if we've pushed them too hard. In short, I worry about these girls who very soon will become young ladies who will face many challenges in the years ahead.
Our goal at Girls EDGE is to give them something to be proud of, to make them feel strong, so they can be brave and stand up for themselves. I want them to feel empowered enough and brave enough to speak their mind and do what they think is right in this world. This may seem like a lofty goal, but one I truly believe is worth fighting for. I can't predict what obstacles they will face or a what challenges lie ahead, but my hope is that we can make a difference.
After our "bring a friend" workout and potluck, a Girls EDGE mom pulled me aside and shared with me something her daughter said.
"Mom, I used to want to be skinny, now I just want to be strong!"
Wow, if that's the difference made for this girl, wow, life is good!
